Your biggest client wants your climate number.

Your books already hold the answer.

Consultancies, IT and SaaS companies have no smokestacks — but they end up in climate reporting anyway, as suppliers. When the key account, the procurement team or the bank asks, Wellfish calculates a defensible number straight from your bookkeeping. Automatically.

2.5

02How it works

From bookkeeping to climate report — in three steps.

No survey. No data collection. Your footprint already sits in the transactions — Wellfish turns them into a report.

01
Connect your bookkeeping
Wellfish reads transactions directly from your accounting system — Fortnox, Visma and more. The connection takes minutes; no new data needed.
02
AI classifies — you approve
Every transaction is matched to emission factors and GHG categories. You review and approve — which is why the number holds up when someone asks how you calculated it.
03
The report is ready
A climate calculation per the GHG Protocol, ready to send to the client, the procurer or the bank — and to follow up next year with one click.
03The emissions

Your biggest emission line isn't visible at the office.

This is how emissions break down for Swedish service companies in the Wellfish data, grouped per the GHG Protocol. Software weighs heaviest — not the travel most people guess.

50 %
Purchased goods & services
Software, cloud and licences — the climate cost few ever count.
22 %
Business travel
Almost all of it is flights. Travel decides whether you sit at the top or bottom of the range.
21 %
Capital goods (IT hardware)
Laptops, screens, phones. Extending device life is often the easiest win.
4 %
Energy & fuel
The office and company cars — rarely the real problem.
3 %
Rest of the value chain
The remainder — small but traceable.

Approved, human-reviewed transactions from Swedish IT consultancies and SaaS companies in Wellfish. Median: 2.5 tonnes CO₂e per employee per year, typical range 0.8–5 tonnes.

04The systems

Connects to the systems you already use.

Your bookkeeping is the data source — so everything starts with a system connection. Most common among service companies:

05The pitfalls

Four traps service companies walk into.

We see the same mistakes again and again. All four are avoidable.

The estimate that doesn't hold
Headcount × an industry average works until someone asks "how did you calculate this?". An estimate can't be defended, tracked or compared year on year.
The Excel model that grows
Works the first year. Collapses in year two — when the chart of accounts changed, the person who built it left, and nobody remembers the formulas.
The flights hiding in expense claims
Travel agency invoices and personal expense claims slip through manual calculations. Business travel is your second-biggest line — get it wrong and the whole number is wrong.
The consultant report that dies in March
A six-figure one-off calculation gives you a PDF — but no process. Next year you start from zero, at the same price.
06The payoff

What you get.

A defensible number
Every tonne traces back to a transaction. It holds up in client audits, tenders and bank dialogues.
Answer the form the same week
When the key account's Scope 3 form lands, you have the number — not a project ahead of you.
Zero new data collection
The bookkeeping already exists. No employee surveys, no piles of receipts.
Follow-up included
Next year is one click, not a new project. Compare year on year, category by category.
07Worked example

What it looks like in practice.

A worked example built on the medians in the Wellfish data — an IT consultancy with 20 employees on Fortnox:

Starting point
Key account demands CO₂ figures in a supplier form, deadline in three weeks
Quick estimate
20 employees × 2.5 ≈ 50 tonnes CO₂e — the answer to the first email
Connection
Fortnox connected in a couple of minutes; the AI classifies the transactions
Review
The finance lead approves the categories — hours of work, not weeks
Result
Climate report per the GHG Protocol within ~5 days, form answered
The surprise
Software and cloud is the biggest line — not the flights everyone guessed

Worked example based on medians in the Wellfish data — not a single customer company.

“The automation through integrations with invoicing systems, combined with Wellfish AI, streamlines the work considerably.”

09FAQ

Questions we often get

We barely emit anything — do we really need to calculate?
Your emissions are your clients' indirect emissions. When they report under CSRD or VSME they send supplier forms — and then your number is needed, however small. A median of 2.5 tonnes per employee is small, but "we don't know" is not an answer in a tender.
How long does it take to get started?
Connecting the accounting system takes a few minutes. A finished, reviewed climate report is typically ready within about five days of connecting.
What does it cost?
Fixed price per engagement — from SEK 25,000 per year, depending on volume and number of systems. The demo account is free and the preview calculation of your first 500 records is included. Current pricing is on wellfish.se/en/pricing.
Which systems do you support?
A dozen-plus Swedish accounting systems — including Fortnox, Visma, Björn Lundén, Kleer and Business Central. If yours is missing, records can be uploaded manually.
Do we need a sustainability consultant?
No. The AI classifies transactions against emission factors per the GHG Protocol, and you approve. The methodology is built in — that's why the number holds up to scrutiny without external help.
Is the report enough for VSME and clients' CSRD forms?
Yes, for the climate part. The calculation follows the GHG Protocol and the platform supports VSME reporting, so the numbers can go straight into supplier forms and your sustainability report.
