Sustainability financing – climate impact with social effect
Sustainability is more than reports and figures. It is also about creating tangible change. Through our partnership with Solvatten, we offer a verified form of climate compensation that not only reduces emissions, but also transforms the living conditions of families in Kenya and Uganda.

🌍 What the investment contributes to
An investment in Solvatten means that households in areas without clean water (primarily in sub-Saharan Africa) gain access to a Swedish innovation that purifies and heats water using solar energy – with no emissions at all. The result is both climate benefit and social development.
Clean water, better health and greater equality
Access to clean, warm water without firewood or charcoal helps, among other things, to reduce diseases that are otherwise spread through contaminated water, and frees up time for women and girls who would otherwise be responsible for fetching firewood. This links directly to the UN's goals 3 (health), 5 (gender equality) and 6 (clean water).
Climate benefit and preserved nature
Each Solvatten reduces emissions by around 1.5 tonnes of CO₂ per year and allows 6–10 trees to be left standing. Through solar energy, fossil and biomass-based fuels are replaced – in line with goals 7 (sustainable energy), 13 (climate action) and 15 (life on land).
Partnership and genuine community benefit
The project holds Gold Standard Certified Design (ID 11438) and is run in partnership with Swedish companies. It strengthens both local communities and Sweden's role as a sustainable innovation nation, in line with goal 17 (partnerships for the goals).
What is Solvatten?
Solvatten is a Swedish innovation that makes clean water available in a simple and sustainable way. The product opens like a book, is filled with water and placed in the sun – and after a few hours the water is both clean and warm, ready to be used for cooking, hygiene and drinking.
Why does it matter?
For families in Kenya and Uganda, Solvatten has made a real difference. When less firewood and charcoal is used, valuable forest is preserved while carbon emissions are reduced. Access to clean water improves health and reduces the spread of diseases such as dysentery and cholera. It frees up time for work, school and livelihoods – which in turn contributes to a higher quality of life and greater economic security through lower spending on fuel and healthcare.
