VSME in brief
The Voluntary Sustainability reporting Standard for SMEs (VSME) was developed by EFRAG as a simplified sustainability standard. The aim is to enable SMEs and medium-sized companies to meet increasing demands from customers, banks and investors without having to take on the full CSRD reporting.
CSRD vs VSME – what is the difference?
Unlike CSRD/ESRS, companies do not need to report according to double materiality; instead the assessment is based on the “if applicable” principle. This means companies only need to report on areas that are directly relevant to their operations.
