One company at a time, once a year
Viva Wine Group grows through acquisitions. The group has some 40 companies in several countries, and the companies use different business systems with different routines. Every deal adds a company that must enter the sustainability reporting.
Collection worked while the group was small. Every company handed in its climate data by hand, once a year, and the records were pasted together in Excel. But the work grew with the number of companies, and the figures could not be traced back to the invoice or transaction they came from.
Five systems, one data flow
Wellfish starts from data the group already has. The group's five invoicing and accounting systems are connected, and supplier invoices and transactions are fetched automatically from every company. Nobody at the companies has to hand anything in, and no questionnaires are sent out.
More than 330,000 transactions from 6,000+ suppliers are then matched to the right emission factor. Wine purchases are matched to their country of origin, and transport is calculated per origin. Every tonne of CO₂e can be traced back to a transaction.
Continuous instead of annual
Each company's footprint rolls up to group level, continuously instead of once a year. The group sees its whole footprint in one view, down to each company and supplier. Nobody consolidates data by hand any more, so the time goes into actions instead.
“On top of that, we no longer have to consolidate our data manually, which saves us a lot of time and resources. We have built a stable foundation for scaling up the work and integrating future acquisitions into our sustainability reporting.”
The next acquisition
When a new company joins the group, its business system is connected to the same data flow as the others. The company is part of the climate reporting from day one, without anyone having to rebuild the collection.
